"I’ve known Courtney Hayles personally and professionally for many years now.
As a creative director working alongside some of the world’s biggest brands in storytelling, whether that be marketing to the masses or more personal towards communities, Courtney has always been my go-to. His wordplay and passion for really connecting emotion from people is just one of his many talents. The versatility of his work and ability to not only write but perform his pieces with so much conviction is special.
Always the professional, he has shone most when meeting people/subject matter in person, and me being able to witness first-hand how he makes them feel most comfortable and able to tell their truth to who is a complete stranger.
Thank you for being an intrinsic part of my global vision."

"We asked Courtney Hayles to host the annual Eat Well MCR fund-raising dinner, which is held in conjunction with the launch of the biggest hospitality sector exhibition outside of London, the NRB (Northern Restaurant and Bar Show). The dinner is a key part of our fundraising calendar, bringing together some of the region's best chefs and restaurants for a 7-course dining extravaganza, with multiple fundraising activities throughout the evening.
To hold the attention of the audience, which becomes rowdier as the night goes on, and deliver information about complex dishes, chefs and ingredients, while encouraging people to donate is no easy task. Courtney executed his role with professionalism, attention to detail and most importantly his own unique style, which captured the hearts and minds of the guests and brought the room together in a truly memorable way. In addition to his hosting duties, Courtney penned a beautiful piece of prose, which he read out towards the end of the evening. The rowdy crowd quietened as his words connected with the audience, who were truly moved. Crucially we raised a great amount of money that will fund meals for people in need across Manchester. We can't thank Courtney enough for his time and commitment and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others."

"Courtney is a consummate professional who works to strict timelines. He motivates encourages and mentors those that he works alongside,
I believe Courtney is a role model, he gives direct assistance, helps with professional development assisting the artists that he works with to plan, their work, and find systems for best practice, he also helps with constructive advice, and challenges, and gives guidance and direction through self-expression and movement.
He does this work through observation and feedback So the artist he works with can achieve the very best via their own work. At the same time building up the individual artist to become resilient in the Arts sector, which can be difficult at times.
I have worked with Courtney on several projects and would continue to work with Courtney on many more.
Kind Regards,"

"Courtney Hayles was commissioned by Community Arts North West as co-director and movement director on The Dream Collector, a group-devised piece which was performed by CAN Young Artists@ HOME in 2019. Courtney was an asset to the team and worked extremely well with the young people, ensuring that their ideas and ambitions were strongly represented in the work and inspiring them to develop a new theatre language. The final production showed clear signs of Courtney's highly creative approach to integrating creative movement with theatre.
The young people on the project learnt a huge amount from Courtney and his work stretched them as young artists. As a result of Courtney's work on the project, the young artists were able to perform a highly ambitious piece of youth theatre, which received considerable praise from audiences and positive feedback from an Arts Council England assessment."

We loved having Courtney part of our 10 year celebrations- he brought a great energy and entertained the crowd. He took time to learn about the agency so that the spoken word poet we asked him to create for us was personal.
We look forward to working together again in the future.

"Working with Courtney Hayles has been an excellent experience for SICK! and the team, participants and audiences. We know from our own experience how dedicated he is to all the work he is involved with and the very positive feedback we receive from all involved.
Courtney worked with us on two significant projects: SICK! Cars - exploring complicated and challenging questions about masculinity and mental health. Courtney worked closely with male participants from Moston and Harpurhey, to deeper connect with the subject matter and write material to become part of the large-scale artwork.
Unmasking Masculinity - Society says that men don’t show their emotions, boys don’t cry and you just need to man up. We don’t agree. Courtney was one of four fantastic local poets who shared their work and talked about what it means to be a man, to share your feelings and to write poetry.
Both projects were related to challenges young and older men have with mental health. I highly recommend Courtney because he conducted both projects with such great enthusiasm. His encouragement and deep commitment to the participants meant he was a great positive role model, a fantastic facilitator and a mentor".

I commissioned Courtney to deliver a masterclass on poetry and film-making as part of the Future Voices programme to 40 emerging poets online. From our initial conversation, Courtney was hugely inspiring. He has a cross-disciplinary creative lens, great experience and was perfect to talk to the cohort about film in combination with spoken word.
Courtney's masterclass was thoroughly planned and his delivery was passionate and engaging. The participants were really interested in his creative process and technique and he answered their questions with kindness and detail. Courtney was a real pleasure to work with, I am looking forward to crossing paths with him in the future!
